Sunday School in the Time of Covid

2020-2021 Sunday School

We don't know what Sunday School will look like this school year. The guidelines from the Metropolis prohibit in person meetings beyond worship. We plan to begin virtual sessions beginning October 10. More detailed information will be sent out in the coming two weeks.

Sunday School
Religious Education

The purpose of our Religious Education program is to gain understanding of the teachings of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Holy Fathers of the Church, to enable us to grow in faith and live a fully Orthodox Christian life.  This is done through exploring the life of the Church, the Holy Scriptures, the history of the Church and participating actively in liturgical worship in church.

Our children attend church with their class on Sunday mornings until the receiving of Holy Communion.  After Holy Communion, the children in grades Pre-kindergarten through 8th grade participate in classroom activity in the Educational Center until 12:15 p.m.  Our high school program, which is open to all students in grades 9-12, takes place on the first and third Wednesday of every month, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.  Our religious education program is an adjunct to participation in church, not only on Sundays, but also throughout the year.  We believe it is vital for our children to be able to experience the Liturgy and other various services in order to understand their faith and develop their relationship with God.

We are blessed with very dedicated and hard-working teachers, and are grateful for parent volunteers to assist in the program.  We welcome your participation, ideas and suggestions.
